Hey fam! 👋
P'Nick here again, and today we’re looking at something that’s already out and turning heads—literally! It’s the MagicX Xu10, a fun-sized Linux-based handheld from MagicX. This one's already available, and guess what? I’ve got one on the way! You’ll be seeing it soon on the Wheel of Review over on P'Nick’s Handhelds YouTube channel 💫
Oh! And in case you were wondering—"Xu" is pronounced like "Zoo", so it's "Zoo-Ten", not "Ex-You-Ten" 😄
🧠 A Retro Linux Handheld with Quirky Charm
The Xu10 has a fun, toy-like design that’s hard not to smile at. Right above the screen, it has this rounded “forehead” with a double-brow bump, and underneath, the lower edge curves down like two little feet! It gives the whole thing a playful personality that stands out from the usual serious retro boxes.

Despite its playful look, this device brings legit retro power under the hood—enough to make it a very solid value.
📺 Compact Screen, Classic Ratio
Display: 3.5-inch IPS screen
Resolution: 640 × 480 (4:3)
OCA full lamination: Bright colors, minimal glare
Viewing angle: Wide angle for clear play from any position

This screen is tailor-made for retro gamers. 640x480 at 4:3 is the ideal resolution for classics—from NES to N64 to PS1. OCA full lamination means less reflection and sharper contrast, giving you that “screen-pops-off” feeling that older handhelds often lacked.
⚙️ Why These Specs Hit the Sweet Spot
Spec | Why It’s Great |
CPU: RK3326S (1.6GHz, Quad-core A35) | Tried-and-true chip used in popular Linux handhelds like the RG351P – reliable and balanced for retro systems. |
GPU: Mali-G31 | Handles 3D systems like PSP, N64, NDS, Dreamcast at playable speeds. |
RAM: 1GB DDR4 @ 2666MHz | Faster than older DDR3 setups, giving smoother emulation and less stutter. |
Battery: 3000mAh | 6–8 hours of gameplay—perfect for commutes or chill sessions. |
Storage: 64–256GB microSD, expandable to 512GB | Plenty of space for full libraries of retro games. |
OS: Linux | Fast boot times, stability, and no need to mess with Android setups. |
At this price point, it’s hard to complain, you're getting a well-balanced setup that's plug-and-play friendly. No need to tinker with settings endlessly like on Android devices.
🎮 Supported Systems (It’s a lot!)
The Xu10 supports nearly everything up to Dreamcast and early PSP games—plus filters, save states, and more:
Nintendo: NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, NDS, N64, Famicom, FDS
Sony: PS1, PSP
Sega: Game Gear, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, SG-1000, 32X, Master System
Arcade: MAME, CPS1/2/3, Neo Geo, Naomi
Others: Atari 7800, Lynx, Intellivision, Amstrad CPC, WonderSwan Color, MSX2, PC Engine, OpenBOR, Ports
Extra features: 3D HD filters, undistorted 2D scaling, auto save/load support

💬 P’Nick’s Early Thoughts
This one’s already got my attention. Linux-based handhelds are great for anyone who wants a simple, fast, retro-focused system. No app stores, no update nags, just boot it up and play.
And with that cute “double-brow” design and rounded feet, it looks like it’s ready to walk off the desk by itself 😄
I'll give my full impressions once it spins up on the Wheel of Review 🎡 but first impressions? Xu10 might be a hidden gem.
